LABBS Convention 2024

Bournemouth International Centre
25th - 27th October 2024

Welcome to Convention 2024.

Bournemouth awaits, and Convention 2024 is shaping up to be a very exciting weekend.

A special welcome to all of those attending for the first time - we think there will be about 200 first timers this year so you won't be alone, and everyone will be very happy to point you in the right direction for the various activities.  Don't forget to visit the First Timer Table near reception when you can!

We listened to your feedback from Convention 2023 and this year there are a number of extra sessions available for you to choose from every day of the weekend.  Check out the HC@Convention sessions (HC@C) which are going to be presented by some of our most talented educators and guests.

I'd like to thank all the many volunteers who work so hard to make this Convention possible, ranging from the judges who will spend whole days in intense concentration, to the door stewards who may just fill in for one session, and to the Events Team members who share their time and expertise freely all year in planning and organising.  We could not have a Convention without them so give them a smile and a thank you when you meet them around the centre, they are there for you.

All of our competitors will be feeling excited and probably nervous, but we wish all of you well and know that you will strut your stuff to the best of your ability.  We look forward to hearing from you whether you are in a quartet or a chorus of any size.  You are the backbone of this Convention, and it wouldn't happen without you.

As well as competitors, educators and volunteers there is another group of extremely important people - the audience!  We would like to thank everyone who has come to support one of our members for Convention 2024.  We know that the support our members receive is not just for one weekend, it is for every week of getting to practice and listening to teach tracks and making strange bubbling noises and practicing choreo in front of the mirror.  So, for all of you who live with all of that thank you!

Having said thank you to you all, I say again "Welcome to Convention 2024" - we are going to have a great time!

In Harmony

Our charity this year is the RNLI.  More information on activities (to include a Tombola Stall) will follow shortly.

The RNLI is the charity that saves lives at sea. Powered primarily by kind donations, the search and rescue service has been saving lives for 200 years.

RNLI are  committed to being one of the most efficient charities in the UK and Ireland. As a charity, separate from the coastguard and independent from government, they are reliant on voluntary donations to power their lifesaving work.

Your money helps  lifeboat crews save lives quickly, safely and effectively

There are over 5,700 volunteer crew members and over 4,000 volunteer shore crew at 238 lifeboat stations around the UK and Ireland. They all rely on training, kit, rescue equipment, lifeboats and lifeboat stations to save lives at sea.

It cost £191M to run this lifesaving service in 2023
